Gerald A. Rosenthal, one of the first Florida Bar Board Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialists, , has dedicated 40 years of service to his clients and to the profession. He has attained nationwide recognition, having dedicated his entire career to protecting the rights of severely injured workers and their families. Gerry was the first attorney in Florida to successfully try a case of Hepatitis “C” contracted in the workplace. He is widely ranked and recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America, a Florida Super Lawyer, and a Million Dollar Advocate. He also holds Martindale-Hubbell’s “AV-Preeminent” rating. Gerry received his J.D. from University of Florida in 1973; his love of the Gator Nation is well known. He has served on the Board of Trustees of UF’s Levin College of Law. He funds the Law School’s annual Book Award for Workers’ Compensation and, with his wife, Ingrid, has dedicated a classroom at the law school. He served as a visiting professor at UF, Mercer and Florida State University’s Law Schools. Gerry co-authored Matthew Bender’s Litigating Social Security Disability Claims. A dedicated leader and lecturer for the Florida Bar, Gerry has served on the Judicial Nominating Commission, Grievance committee (15th Circuit), Workers’ Compensation Certification Committee, and the Executive Council of the Workers’ Compensation section. As a member of the American Bar Association, Gerry serves as Union and Employee Co-Chair, Workers’ Compensation Committee. Gerry has also been an officer or director of a number of Florida organizations dedicated to preserving the rights of the workers and educating practitioners in the field of workers’ compensation, including Florida Rural Legal Services, Florida Workers’ Compensation Advocates and the Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute. At the national level, he is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance, a Fellow in the College of Worker’s Compensation, a member of the National Association of Workers’ Compensation Judiciary and an officer of WILG. Gerry has been honored by, and made the recipient of, numerous leadership and achievement awards from the Florida Bar, WILG, American Association of Justice, and from FWA, a Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2000, Gerry and Ingrid received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the American Lung Association.
